With state assembly elections around the corner, Delhi's political climate is heating up. On Monday, Chief Minister Atishi was emotionally stirred in reaction to Ramesh Bidhuri's recent comments.

During a Monday press conference, she stated, 'I would like to tell Ramesh Bidhuri that my father has spent his entire life as a teacher, educating thousands of underprivileged children in Delhi. He is now 80 years old and so frail that he cannot walk without support. Will you stoop so low for the sake of elections? Will you insult an elderly person?'

Atishi remarked that she never imagined politics in this nation could descend to such a low level. 'He (Ramesh Bidhuri) should seek votes based on his work. He has been a member of parliament from South Delhi for ten years,' she added.

She urged the people of Kalkaji to demand an account of his decade-long tenure: 'Bidhuri Ji asks for votes by insulting my father. It is deeply saddening that he seeks votes by insulting my elderly father.'

What did Ramesh Bidhuri say?

During the 'Parivartan Rally' held on Sunday in Rohini, Ramesh Bidhuri sparked controversy by claiming that Delhi's 'slipper-wearing' Chief Minister Atishi has changed her lineage, now going by Singh instead of Marlena. 'Look, Marlena has turned into Singh. This speaks to their character,' he remarked.

He further attacked CM Atishi's parents on stage, alleging they once petitioned for clemency for Afzal Guru, the Parliament attack convict.

It is important to note that Delhi is poised to witness a riveting triangular contest this election. Arvind Kejriwal faces the challenge of reinstating his government, while the BJP is eager to end its long absence from power since 1998. Meanwhile, after the era of the late former Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, Congress struggles to regain power independently. Amidst these high stakes, political jibes continue unabated, as witnessed with Bidhuri's recent derogatory comments targeting both Priyanka Gandhi and Delhi's CM Atishi.
