Delhi's Wealthiest Candidate Holds 2.59 Billion INR

With the Delhi Assembly elections approaching, ADR's report reveals Karnail Singh from Shakur Basti as the wealthiest candidate with assets worth 2.59 billion INR. BJP's Manjinder Singh Sirsa from Rajouri Garden follows with 2.48 billion INR.

Voting for the Delhi Assembly elections is set to take place tomorrow, Wednesday. A total of 699 candidates are contesting in this election. Ahead of the elections, the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) has released a report indicating that BJP's Karnail Singh is the wealthiest candidate in the fray, boasting declared assets of 2.59 billion INR from Shakur Basti.

The ADR report also highlights that BJP's Manjinder Singh Sirsa, running from Rajouri Garden, possesses 2.48 billion INR in declared assets. Meanwhile, from Krishna Nagar, Congress's Gurcharan Singh ranks third with assets worth 1.30 billion INR. BJP's New Delhi candidate Parvesh Sahib Singh owns 1.15 billion INR, and AAP's Rajouri Garden candidate A. Dhanwati Chandela holds 1.00 billion INR in assets.

'BJP Candidates Lead in Wealth'

The ADR report further reveals that BJP candidates have the highest average assets, totaling 229 million INR, followed by Congress candidates with an average of 144.1 million INR, and AAP candidates with an average of 117 million INR. Interestingly, there are three candidates who have declared zero assets, including Shabana of the National Republican Party contesting from Seelampur, Mohinder Singh from Matiala, and independent candidate Yogesh Kumar from Matiala.

Karnail Singh from BJP, contesting in Delhi, is the wealthiest candidate.

Minimal Assets among Candidates

The report lists candidates with minimal declared assets (excluding those with zero assets). Independent candidate Ashok Kumar from Ambedkar Nagar has assets valued at just 6,586 INR. On the other hand, independent candidate Anita from New Delhi has assets worth 9,500 INR, and Khilkhal from the Bahujan Shoshit Samaj Sangharsh Samata Party holds assets totaling 10,000 INR.
