Residents of Anand Vihar, grappling with severe pollution, shared their plight with a news agency. They revealed suffering from health issues like increased irritation in their eyes, throat infections, and breathing problems over the past few days.
Victimized by Pollution, Residents Share Their Struggles
Javed Ali, an auto-rickshaw driver at Anand Vihar Bus Stand, shared his struggles due to deteriorating air quality. He said that his eyes constantly burn and frequently turn red, blurring his vision and making driving challenging.
Meanwhile, Supriya Yadav highlighted both air and water pollution in the area, stating that it exacerbates her family's health issues. She expressed her helplessness, mentioning that they cannot afford bottled water. In Delhi, both polluted air and water present significant challenges.
Being a mother of two, Supriya worries about her children's health. She noted that her child suffers from recurrent stomach issues that seldom improve. Despite consulting several doctors, medicines haven't been effective.
Even Anand Vihar ISBT Residents Troubled by Pollution
The situation at Anand Vihar ISBT Bus Stand mirrors the same distress, with pollution affecting many residents. Harendra Singh, who works there, explained how pollution hampers his work. Spending 10 hours a day in the area, Singh mentioned the constant dust and grime in the air, causing his eyes to redden and burn, accompanied by persistent coughing.
AQI Reaches Dangerous Levels
Anand Vihar in Delhi remains one of the most polluted areas. The air quality index (AQI) persists in the hazardous category. On Friday, the national capital's AQI was 389 at 8:30 am, while Anand Vihar's AQI stood at 419, underscoring the severe pollution situation there.
