The northern states of the country are witnessing a gradual drop in minimum temperatures. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), fluctuations in temperature will continue for several days in the plains. Meanwhile, under the influence of Cyclone Dana, numerous districts in Odisha and Bengal are experiencing heavy rainfall. On October 25, a red alert has been issued for severe rains in Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal, as per the IMD. Simultaneously, Kerala and Jharkhand are on orange alert, while Bihar and Tamil Nadu have been placed under yellow alert.

Delhi's Weather

Nights in Delhi have begun to chill. As per the weather department, a sharp dip in Delhi's minimum temperature post-Diwali is anticipated. Throughout the week, the maximum temperature in Delhi could hover between 32 to 34 degrees Celsius, with the minimum expected to stabilize around 18 to 19 degrees Celsius.

According to Skymet Weather, over the next 24 hours, light to moderate rainfall is expected in Gangetic West Bengal and coastal Odisha, with some areas experiencing very heavy downpours. Additionally, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and southern Karnataka may see light to moderate rain, with one or two places facing heavy rainfall. Light to moderate rains might also occur in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, southern Assam, West Bengal, and the Konkan and Goa regions. Light rain is possible in Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, eastern Bihar, eastern Jharkhand, and Lakshadweep. No significant improvement in air quality index is expected in Delhi and NCR, and it is predicted to remain in the 'very poor' category.

As per Skymet Weather, Cyclone Dana is anticipated to make landfall on the northern coastlines of Odisha and West Bengal between Puri and Sagar Island, north of Bhubaneswar, during the night of October 24 and the morning of October 25. It is expected to be a severe cyclonic storm with wind speeds ranging from 100 to 110 km/h, gusting up to 120 km/h.
