The Congress accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of breaking all parliamentary norms by alleging a bias towards the opposition by then Rajya Sabha Chairman Hamid Ansari. On July 2nd, during the response to the presidential address in the Lok Sabha, PM Modi remarked that despite any claim to numbers, when they came to power in 2014, their presence in the Rajya Sabha was meager, and the Chairman was somewhat biased toward the other side. However, they steadfastly continued to serve the nation proudly.

According to PTI, PM Modi stated that he wants to assure the people of the country that neither he nor his government would fear any obstacles from the mandate given by the public. They are committed to achieving the goals for which they have taken steps. While PM Modi didn't name anyone, former Vice President Ansari was the Rajya Sabha Chairman from August 2012 to August 2017.

In a post on X, Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh highlighted that PM Modi's remarks on July 2nd in the Lok Sabha were overlooked by the media. He claimed that what PM Modi said was terrifying and unacceptable, suggesting that it should have been stricken from the record. PM Modi had accused former Rajya Sabha Chairman Hamid Ansari of favoring the opposition.

Congress leader Jairam Ramesh pointed out that this was not the first time PM Modi had targeted Hamid Ansari. Seven years ago, during Ansari's retirement farewell speech, he alluded to Ansari's prominent diplomatic postings, coincidentally in Islamic countries.

Ramesh noted that Hamid Ansari retired from the Indian Foreign Service after serving as High Commissioner to Australia and India's Permanent Representative to the UN in New York, but this was overlooked unjustly. He accused PM Modi of attacking a former Lok Sabha Speaker or Rajya Sabha Chairman in unprecedented ways.

The Congress leader remarked that by doing so, PM Modi has broken all parliamentary conventions, further diminishing the dignity of his position post-campaign.
