Previously, coordinated efforts by central and state security forces led to the elimination of at least 31 extremists during a 21-day extensive operation around the dense forests near the Chhattisgarh-Telangana border. CRPF Director General G.P. Singh and Chhattisgarh's DGP Arun Dev Gautam reported that from April 21, 31 Maoists' bodies were recovered, 28 of whom have been identified.
Additional DGP (Anti-Extremist Operation) Vivekanand revealed that identified extremists had bounties totaling 17.2 million rupees. A vast cache of weapons was seized, and four technical extremist units, responsible for manufacturing arms and IEDs, were dismantled. The objectives we set were far exceeded. We are optimistic that this marks the beginning of the end, aiming to eradicate extremist violence by March 31, 2026. Due to challenging terrains, retrieval of all bodies or arrest of the injured wasn't possible; however, 35 weapons and considerable ammunition, both automatic and semi-automatic, were seized.
During the operation, 450 IEDs, numerous detonators, explosive devices, and 12,000 kilograms of various materials, including medical supplies and electrical devices, were seized. Security forces dismantled four extremist weapon factories where generators, drills, motors, and cutters were also recovered.
