Chhattisgarh Bijapur Naxal Attack
: In a major assault, Naxalites attacked a convoy of security forces in Bijapur, Chhattisgarh. The attack claimed the lives of 8 personnel and a civilian driver. The Naxalites targeted a vehicle carrying District Reserve Guard (DRG) personnel with an IED blast, leaving the vehicle in ruins. The explosion made a significant crater at the site, highlighting the severity of the blast.
Security forces were ambushed by Naxalites during an ongoing anti-Naxalite operation. The team, returning after their mission in Bijapur, was attacked near Ambeli village, close to the Kutru-Bedre road. Among those martyred were 8 DRG personnel and a civilian driver.

The Most Significant Attack on Security Forces in Two Years?
Inspector General of Police in the Bastar range, Sundarraj P, stated that the tragic event occurred near Ambeli village when the security personnel were returning from a Naxal opposition campaign. He mentioned that the DRG is a special unit of the state police.
An official noted that this is the largest attack on security personnel by Naxalites in the last two years. Previously, on April 26, 2023, Naxalites blew up a vehicle part of a convoy in the neighboring Dantewada district, killing ten police personnel and a civilian driver.
Chief Minister Vishnu Sais's Reaction to the Bijapur Attack
The Chief Minister expressed deep sorrow over the news of 8 personnel and a driver martyred due to the IED blast by Naxalites in Bijapur district's Kutru. He condemned the desperate acts of the Naxalites, who are demoralized by the ongoing anti-Naxalite campaign in Bastar. He assured that the valor of the martyrs would not go in vain and affirmed the commitment to continue the fight against Naxalism with strength.
In previous media interactions, the Chief Minister pointed out, "Overall, if observed, our personnel casualties are minimal. Compared to earlier days when casualties occurred on both sides, now, personnel casualties are significantly lower." He emphasized the government's determined stand against Naxalism, underscoring the enthusiasm with which the security forces are combating.

The Chief Minister further shared that Home Minister Amit Shah is also committed to eradicating Naxalism by 2026. He expressed hope that the strong fight would achieve this aim. He mentioned that five districts in Bastar are affected by Naxalism and expressed optimism for eradication and development in the area by 2026, with security departments being established there.
Former Chief Minister Condemns the Attack
On the Bijapur IED explosion, Chhattisgarh Assembly Speaker and former Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh stated, "Whenever major operations are mounted against them, these Naxalites resort to cowardly attacks... I express my condolences to the families of the martyrs... The significant strides being made by the Chhattisgarh and central governments will continue to progress further..."
