In the wake of the much-discussed Jyoti Maurya PCS case, a similar incident has emerged from Jhansi. There, a man is tirelessly seeking justice for his wife's return. The husband claims that after their love marriage, he worked hard to educate his wife only for her to abandon him upon becoming a government official. Despite his pleas to both the police and authorities, he has yet to find justice. He was present at the office during her appointment ceremony, searching for her, but returned empty-handed. When contacted, she refused to appear on camera, denying any marriage ever took place.

Neeraj Vishwakarma, the distressed husband from Shahar Kotwali of Jhansi, is the youngest of three brothers, working as a carpenter. Five years ago, he met Richa Soni of Satyam Colony, and after two and a half years, they wed in Orchha Temple. Richa expressed a desire to continue her studies, and Neeraj supported her financially to make this possible. However, once selected for the government job of a 'Lekhpal (Revenue Officer),' her attitude changed, and she left him, never to return home since.

Neeraj has exhausted all his options, from officials to police, to fnd his wife, but to no avail. He even rushed to the Collectorate office to catch a glimpse of her receiving her appointment letter, but left disappointed. She left the venue with her letter but did not meet him.

"I have been distressed since January 18," said Neeraj. "My wife, now a 'Lekhpal,' left me to fend for myself. I have knocked on every door for her, but she remains out of reach. Today was her appointment letter ceremony, and I was there seeking her, but she vanished. I've done everything for her."

Marriage took place in Orchha Temple in 2022

He recalled, "I met her about 5-6 years ago when she was teaching young kids. Our friendship eventually blossomed into love, and we got married at Orchha Temple by mutual consent. After several conflicts and her departure to her parents' home, I called her back via a family court order. This January, she was selected for the 'Lekhpal' position, and on January 18, she left me. We met once at the police station, where she suggested I swear in front of an SDM that our marriage never happened. How can we deny our marriage? We wed in Orchha in February 2022. Our marriage photos and certificates aren't fake. I am profoundly troubled and still searching for her."

Sacrifices Made to Educate Wife: Victim

The victimized husband shared, "We faced many hardships to educate Richa. As a carpenter, I earned daily wages that I spent on her education, sometimes even borrowing money. Today, she denies our marriage and accuses me of conspiring against her. It's a struggle that haunts me day and night. Meanwhile, she alleges that the marriage never happened and claims it's all a scheme to defame her."
