Bhavesh Bhandari, a businessman from Himmatnagar, Gujarat, and his wife have decided to renounce their worldly life and take vows of asceticism after donating their fortune worth 200 crores. Their decision includes their 16-year-old son and 19-year-old daughter. The Bhandari family has always inclined towards Jainism, frequently mingling with initiates and mentors. Bhavesh, with his wife, scattered gold, silver, clothes, and cash on the streets in a grand gesture.

Raised in comfort and luxury, Bhavesh Bhandari's considerable business in construction in Himmatnagar and Ahmedabad has thrived over the years. Their long-standing association with the Jain community, which is deeply rooted in the lives of monks and devotees, has ultimately led them to abandon all material possessions in pursuit of a monastic life.

Embarking on a New Path of Asceticism

On the 22nd, along the Ahmedabad Riverfront, 35 individuals are geared up to step into a disciplined life of asceticism. After their initiation, Bhavesh and his wife will lead a life based on strict daily rituals that include living off alms for their sustenance. They shall forego comforts such as fans, air conditioning, and mobile phones and will travel everywhere barefoot, forsaking the attachments of their former existence.

A Family's Collective Leap of Faith

Prior to Bhavesh and his wife's decision, their children had already begun their ascetic journey. Two years ago, the couple's 16-year-old son and 19-year-old daughter embraced Jain monastic life. Inspired by their children, the philanthropist couple has embarked on this spiritual path.
