With the general elections underway, the code of conduct has been activated. Despite rigorous checkpoint enforcement in Gwalior, influential citizens are not shying away from flaunting their authority, even in the presence of uniformed female officers. A notable incident in Gwalior on Thursday demonstrated this when a female Sub-Inspector (SI) began to issue a ticket to a hooter-equipped vehicle, the owner of which started to intimidate the female SI.
The entire episode unfolded on Friday at Vivekananda Chowk in Gwalior, where Sub-Inspector Sonam Parashar was on checking duty. All vehicles passing through the checkpoint were being scrutinized, especially those with hooters, which were subject to fines. It was then that Mukesh Agarwal, a respected businessman, crossed the checkpoint in his vehicle. The visibility of a hooter on Mukesh Agarwal's vehicle prompted the female Sub-Inspector to stop him and discuss issuing a fine. The businessman responded aggressively, informing the SI that she could not detain his car and that she should consult the SP if she so desired.

Agarwal's domineering posture puzzled the female Sub-Inspector momentarily, but the nearby staff managed to de-escalate the situation. Despite this, Agarwal's demeanor did not soften, and he left the scene without receiving a ticket. The incident's video rapidly spread on social media by Saturday, eventually reaching police officials.
According to Additional SP Shiyaz KM, it's common for people to argue rather than accept a ticket during checkings, and this same occurrence took place at Vivekananda Chowk. The Additional SP also stated that while the businessman did not pay his dues on the spot, he would be summoned to court to clear his fine and his vehicle would be seized if it was spotted on the road again. The video of the heated argument between the business magnate and the female inspector has gone viral on social media.
Meanwhile, Sub-Inspector Sonam Parashar stated that businessman Mukesh Agarwal not only acted inappropriately but also violated the law. In such circumstances, the smart city's CCTV system would be used to issue a digital ticket based on the vehicle number. Additionally, separate legal actions are being taken due to the indecency involved.
