BSNL's Director Vivek Banzal's visit to Prayagraj scheduled for February 25 has been canceled following the leak of a detailed 'royal' protocol arranged for his visit. This plan, issued at the DGM level on February 19, involved over 50 officers and staff deployed for his Sangam bath, towels, clothes, and meals.
However, as soon as this minute-by-minute schedule hit social media, sharp questions were raised about this extravagant use of government resources. As the matter escalated, officials confirmed the cancellation of the visit.
Officers Assigned to Towels and Clothing
The viral protocol made very specific arrangements for Vivek Banzal. Responsibilities for everything from towels to clothing post-Sangam bath were assigned to different officers. Clear instructions were given ensuring none of his personal items would be left behind. This 'super-special' service, once revealed to the public, sparked an internet debate.
Action Taken After Social Media Outcry
Once the 'royal protocol' went viral, users criticized it as a mockery of the government system. The issue reached senior levels, leading to the sudden cancellation of the director's visit the very next day. Ashish Gupta, BSNL's public relations officer, confirmed that this tour will no longer take place and the previous protocol is completely invalid.
