The CBI and ED's investigation into the Delhi liquor scam has now reached several prominent politicians. The latest update informs that the ED has arrested K. Kavitha, daughter of Telangana's former Chief Minister Chandrashekhar Rao.
The Enforcement Directorate conducted a raid at the Hyderabad residence of Kavitha, a member of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and subsequently took her into custody after ignoring two summons for interrogation.
Action Taken for Non-Appearance!
Kavitha, citing the Supreme Court's order, did not appear before the ED on January 16 for a new round of questioning. She had been interrogated three times last year, during which the central agency recorded her statement under the Money Laundering Act. Kavitha from BRS previously stated that she had done nothing wrong and alleged the BJP-led central government was misusing the ED as the BJP is unable to make inroads into Telangana through the back door.
K. Kavitha's Name Emerged During Interrogation
During the interrogation, one of the accused in the Delhi liquor policy case, Amit Arora, named K. Kavitha. Following this, she was summoned for questioning. The investigating agency alleged that there was a liquor lobby named South Group, which had paid up to 100 crore rupees to several leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party through another accused, Vijay Nair.
