Latest Update on BPSC Protest:

The movement by candidates of the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has reached a crucial point today. Thousands of candidates gathered at Gandhi Maidan to press their demands, where opposition leader Prashant Kishor had called for a 'Student Parliament.' However, the district administration did not permit this gathering and closed all gates of Gandhi Maidan for security reasons.

Demand for Cancellation and Re-examination of BPSC Exam

In fact, candidates are demanding the cancellation and re-examination of the 70th BPSC Preliminary Exam (BPSC 70th PT Exam 2024) due to allegations of misconduct. Prashant Kishor, leader of the Jan Suraj Party, met with agitating candidates on Friday and urged them to strategize to advance their movement. He appealed to students and their guardians to gather in large numbers at Gandhi Maidan on Sunday to plan the next phase of their movement.

No Permission Granted for 'Student Parliament' at Gandhi Maidan

Prashant Kishor was supposed to be part of this 'Student Parliament.' Protesters were summoned near the statue of Bapu, but the administration refused to allow the student parliament below Gandhi's statue at Gandhi Maidan. The administration argued that a minimum of 45 days' advance application is mandatory for organizing any event at Gandhi Maidan. The Jan Suraj Party submitted the application only on Friday evening, which was evidently late. The administration also clarified that no permissions are granted for any events beneath the Gandhi statue. Currently, various fairs and festivals are ongoing at Gandhi Maidan, making it impossible to grant permission for a new event.

Heavy Police Deployment at Gandhi Maidan

Comprehensive security arrangements were made to prevent entry into Gandhi Maidan. A large police force was deployed inside and around Gandhi Maidan. Since morning, candidates began congregating at Gandhi Maidan. A gathering formed in front of the Gandhi statue, where they were chanting slogans in support of their demands.

Protesters Refuse to Back Down

The police used loudspeakers to request the protestors to vacate the area. Despite repeated warnings, the candidates refused to leave the vicinity of the Gandhi statue. The protesters assert that this is a fight for their rights, and they will remain in place until their demands are met. Meanwhile, the administration has taken stringent security measures around Gandhi Maidan and is monitoring the situation closely. This movement marks a new chapter in exerting pressure on the government regarding youth employment issues in Bihar. It remains to be seen what form this deadlock will take and what steps the government will take.
