BPSC Protest:

Patna Police has issued a notice to teacher and popular blogger 'Guru Rehman' (Motiur Rehman Khan). The notice demands proof of the alleged leak of the BPSC 70th Pre-examination paper. Police have clarified that if Guru Rehman possesses solid evidence of this leak, he should hand it over to them. Failure to do so will be considered an attempt to tarnish the government and BPSC's image.

The controversy surrounding the Bihar Public Service Commission's (BPSC) 70th Combined Competitive Preliminary Examination (BPSC 70th PT Exam 2024) shows no signs of abating. Since the exam day (13th December 2024), hundreds of candidates have been accusing the exam of misconduct and demanding its cancellation and a re-exam. Candidates claim a lack of transparency in the exam process and say that such paper leaks jeopardize their future.

Earlier, Teacher Guru Rehman met with protesting students and joined the demonstration. Criticizing the police's actions, he remarked, "Such behavior towards students is condemnable. I will always stand in support of the students." His participation has further escalated the issue, leading Patna Police to issue a notice requesting him to present evidence.

The notice issued by Patna Police states that a case is based on a statement written by Inspector-cum-Station Head, Gardanibagh Police Station, Sanjeev Kumar. The investigation is ongoing, and you are expected to cooperate in the process. You are requested to be present at Gardanibagh Police Station on 28th December 2024, at 11:00 a.m. for this purpose.

What Else Does the Notice Say?

The notice explains that you made statements at the Gardanibagh protest site among BPSC candidates, asserting a paper leak and demanding cancellation and re-examination of the 70th BPSC exam. According to the police, your statements suggest that you are directly or indirectly inciting students.

You are requested to present any evidence or documents related to the BPSC 70th examination paper leak at the designated time at the police station.

If you fail to comply with this notice or present any evidence, it will be considered an attempt to tarnish the image of the government institute BPSC. Accordingly, punitive action can be taken against you under B.N.S.S Rule 94 and U/S-210 B.N.S.

BPSC Clearly Denies Re-exam

On Friday, the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) completely dismissed these allegations, stating that there was no irregularity in the examination process. "The allegations of a paper leak are baseless. Some anti-social elements are misleading students. The exam process is conducted in a transparent and secure manner," said the commission.

BPSC's Examination Controller Rajesh Kumar Singh said the 70th PT exam will not be conducted again. We have received several emails against the cancellation of this exam. There is no proof to substantiate the allegations by the protesting students, who are making baseless accusations. The commission is now busy preparing for the main exam scheduled in April.

Officials Meet Protesting Candidates, Offer Suggestions

On Friday night, some Bihar government officials met the candidates sitting on protest. They asked if the students wanted to meet the BPSC president to convey their concerns or would prefer a meeting with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. The protesting students expressed distrust in BPSC and expressed a desire to meet CM Nitish Kumar instead. The official suggested that five people could meet the BPSC Secretary to present their views, but the candidates were not willing.
