An email threatening to bomb the Home Ministry building in Delhi was received, sparking alarm among security personnel. This email was directed at a senior Home Ministry official. It is reported that the email arrived around 3 PM on Wednesday. Following this, the police and security personnel swiftly checked the building but did not find anything suspicious. Consequently, Delhi Police labeled this threatening email as fake.
The Fire Officer of Delhi explained that a team including the police, fire department personnel, a dog squad, and a bomb disposal unit searched the building. The DFS was called after an officer stationed in the North Block received a bomb threat email. The search did not uncover anything suspicious.
It's noteworthy that over 150 schools in Delhi and Noida received bomb threat emails on May 1, causing widespread panic. The investigation revealed that the threatening emails originated from Budapest, Hungary. The IP address was traced back to Budapest, and currently, Delhi Police are in contact with Hungarian investigative agencies. The mail server used, mail.ru, is based in Russia. Information shared by the Russian police via Interpol confirmed the IP address of the threatening email was from Budapest.
Following the receipt of the email, the police conducted search operations in all the schools, employing police dogs and a bomb squad. It later emerged that the threatening email was fraudulent, leading the police to appeal to parents not to panic. Furthermore, a similar email threatening to bomb the country's airports also emerged, which was subsequently found to be fake during the investigation.
