Ajay Devgn's latest thriller 'The Devil' has set the audience abuzz, continuing its successful streak into the second week and paving its way to blockbuster status.
Co-starring Jyothika and R. Madhavan, whose performances are receiving much acclaim, Madhavan's role as the antagonist has particularly impressed audiences, contributing to the chilling atmosphere of the film. Directed by Vikas Bahl, 'The Devil' has started making remarkable strides in its second week at the box office.
'The Devil' outruns new releases
Kicking off its second week, Ajay's movie faced two new releases but managed to maintain the upper hand. After collecting a hefty 81.60 crores in its opening week, Friday and Saturday saw collections of 5.12 and 9.12 crores respectively, taking the total past 95 crores.
With Sunday's anticipated final numbers, the earnings of 'The Devil' are expected to exceed 105 crores, marking a significant feat in the horror genre.
Top-grossing Star in the 100 Crore Club
Following 'The Devil,' Ajay has become the third Bollywood star to deliver the most films in the 100 crore club, marking the 14th time he's achieved this milestone. While Salman Khan leads with 17 films, Akshay Kumar follows with 16. Shah Rukh Khan, now fourth, has 10 films that have crossed the 100 crore mark.
The Biggest Horror Movie
Post-2010, if we look at the top-grossing horror films, 'The Devil' has emerged as the most lucrative:
1. The Devil - 105 crores* (currently in theatres) 2. Raj 3 - 70 crores 3. Ragini MMS 2 - 46.78 crores 4. Ghost Part 1 - 30.68 crores 5. Once Upon a Witch - 26.81 crores
While we may see a dip in 'The Devil's' earnings from Monday, the positive word-of-mouth is expected to keep it as a top choice among theater-goers. No significant releases from Bollywood are expected next week, which might pave the way for 'The Devil' to continue its successful run next weekend.
