Mumbai Police are investigating the attack on Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan. Following the nanny's testimony, Kareena Kapoor has also recorded her statement. Kareena informed the Bandra Police that Saif faced the aggressor single-handedly, ensuring all the women at home were sent to the 12th floor of the building. His timely intervention was crucial.
Kareena's Statement
Kareena told the police that, at the time of the assault, Saif moved the women and children to the 12th floor. His actions were vital in shielding them, as the attacker couldn't reach their son, Jahangir (Saif-Kareena's younger son). She also noted that the attacker took nothing from their home but behaved extremely violently, attacking Saif multiple times; she was so distraught post-incident that her sister Karisma took her to her house.
Nanny's Statement
Before Kareena, the nanny of Saif and Kareena's children, Taimur and Jeh, detailed the events of the attack day. Having worked in their residence for the past four years, she recounted that on the night of January 15th, around 2 AM, she was awakened by a strange noise. The bathroom light was on, and as she went to investigate, a man emerged, heading toward Jeh. Alarmed, she rushed to the child's side; he silently gestured for no noise. When she attempted to stop the intruder, he attacked her, demanding a large sum of money. Hearing the commotion, Saif and Kareena rushed in, leading to the assailant attacking Saif as well. Saif, who suffered multiple injuries, showed incredible resolve during the harrowing incident.
The assailant is described as 35 to 40 years old and was captured on CCTV footage. Post-assault, he fled using the staircase.
The Full Account
On Wednesday, January 15th, late at night, Saif Ali Khan was attacked by an unknown assailant with a knife. Mumbai Police reported that the assailant entered the actor’s house unlawfully, confronting a housemaid. Saif Ali Khan's effort to mediate escalated as the witness attacked him, culminating in a scuffle and repeated stabbings with a sharp object.
Daughter Taimur's nanny also got injured in the assault. Post-incident, Saif personally accompanied Taimur to the hospital by auto-rickshaw. Saif, now recuperating in a special room at Lilavati Hospital, underwent surgery where doctors removed a 2.5-inch knife piece from near his spine.
As of today, the incident's third day, the police have deployed 35 teams to locate the fugitive attacker.
