After the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) election results, political tensions have surged in Mumbai. Amidst this power struggle, Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister, Eknath Shinde, has made a significant decision. The Shinde faction of Shiv Sena has ordered all its newly elected councilors to assemble at the Taj Lands End Hotel in Bandra, Mumbai.

Party sources reveal that all Shinde Sena councilors have been instructed to arrive at the hotel by 3 PM today. They will be stationed there for three days to thwart any attempts at horse trading or defection.

Shinde Faction Emerges as 'Kingmaker' with 29 Seats

In the BMC elections, Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena secured 29 seats. Given the current dynamics, the BJP has not achieved a majority independently in the BMC. As such, the Shinde faction's role is pivotal, and it holds the key to power.

Political corridors are abuzz with talks that forming a government in the BMC without Shinde Sena's support is impossible for the BJP. This explains why the Shinde faction is cautious and unwilling to take any risks.

Eknath Shinde in a 'No Risk' Approach

According to sources, Eknath Shinde is closely monitoring the situation. He believes it is crucial to maintain unity among councilors until formal claims of power in the BMC are established. Hence, the decision to accommodate all councilors in a 5-star hotel has been made.

Rumor suggests the opposition or other political players might attempt to influence their councilors, destabilizing the power equation.

Congress MP Naseer Hussain's Sarcastic Comments

Amid these developments, Congress MP Naseer Hussain launched an attack on Eknath Shinde, sarcastically remarking who does Shinde fear? Who could sway their councilors? Everyone knows who has the most experience in this.

Naseer Hussain further stated that the BJP has historically expanded at the expense of its allies and broken factions. He questioned which party thrived the most in Maharashtra and Bihar, urging Eknath Shinde to realize this for his benefit.

The Suspense Continues at BMC

Currently, suspense hovers over the mayoral and power formation at the BMC. The BJP is striving to secure a majority, while the Shinde faction cautiously advances, holding its cards close. The coming days will decide who will wield power in Mumbai.
