The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) unveiled its 'Resolution Letter' as the party's manifesto for the Lok Sabha elections on a Sunday, placing strong emphasis on the development of women, youth, the poor, and farmers. However, the opposition has outright dismissed this manifesto.
Key opposition parties have ridiculed the BJP's manifesto, calling it absurd and fictional. Rahul Gandhi pointed out that two critical terms are missing from both the BJP’s manifesto and Narendra Modi's speeches: inflation and unemployment. He argues that BJP avoids discussing the most significant issues affecting people's lives. The INDIA plan is crystal clear: recruitment for 3 million positions and firm jobs with a salary of 100,000 for every educated youth. Gandhi proclaims that this time the youth will not be deceived by Modi, as they will strengthen the Congress and trigger an employment revolution in the country.
Congress leader Pawan Khera criticized the BJP's manifesto saying, 'You didn't account for your 2014 promises and have fabricated new catchphrases for 2019. Now in 2024, you're talking about 2047. The manifesto boasts that BJP will host the 2036 Olympics, raising the question: where will you be at that time? Will you be in power? You should be accountable for the past five years. They lie a lot, but now they've started lying to such an extent that no one believes them. PM Modi once said in an interview that he dyes his hair white, but sir, you don't just dye your hair; you present your lies with such a genteel facade.'
Tejashwi Yadav slammed the BJP's manifesto stating there's nothing substantial in it—just empty chatter. There's nothing for Bihar, its impoverished citizens, or regarding the special status for Bihar. The manifesto lacks concrete plans addressing inflation and job creation. Not a single promise for employment is made, and there are no discussions on jobs for youths or free grain for the poor, a practice that dates back to the Congress era.
Abhishek Manu Singhvi described the BJP's manifesto with three words: ludicrous, asinine, and fanciful.
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra remarks that BJP's 'Resolution Letter' is for show; their real agenda is the 'Change the Constitution Document.' BJP's leaders and candidates are canvassing from street to street, state to state with it and their speeches hint at altering the revered constitution by Dr. Ambedkar. She cautioned that BJP starts its anti-national, anti-social, and anti-democratic conspiracies at the grassroots. Initially, the top leaders will pledge allegiance to the constitution in public, but secretly script its demise at night. Eventually, once they consolidate power, they will assault the constitution. She stresses that the constitution, being India’s soul, must be defended, and everyone must unite to reject BJP's mission to change it, declaring the country will operate per the constitution and defeat those attempting to alter it.
Mallikarjun Kharge, Congress President, mockingly states that BJP's manifesto lacks accountability for past promises and is just a manipulation of empty words. Modi's guarantee equates to a warranty of hollow promises.
It's highlighted that this BJP manifesto was prepared by a committee led by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh comprising 27 members and was based on more than 1.5 million public suggestions. BJP's manifesto includes various announcements and a vow to ensure the next five years will continue the free ration scheme, promised PM Modi, guaranteeing nutrition-filled, affordable meals for the impoverished. BJP also pledged to incorporate every senior citizen over the age of 70 into the Ayushmann Scheme, offering free healthcare up to 500,000. Furthermore, the manifesto emphasizes the expansion of the bullet train network with feasibility studies for new corridors in the north, south, and east, and a commitment to building 3 million additional permanent homes for the poor. Also mentioned is the surge in efforts to provide affordable cooking gas to households via pipelines, and the promotion of 'One Nation, One Election'.
