After the assassination of Nationalist Congress Party leader Baba Siddique, gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and his gang are back in the spotlight. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is persistently pursuing actions against Bishnoi and Goldy Brar's gang in several cases. In a similar gangster terror case, the NIA has filed a chargesheet against the Bishnoi gang in the Delhi court, revealing eye-opening details.
The NIA, in its chargesheet, has compared Lawrence Bishnoi's gang to Dawood Ibrahim's 'D Company'. The central agency highlighted that the terror syndicate of Lawrence Bishnoi has spread unprecedentedly, much like Dawood Ibrahim did while establishing his network through petty crimes in the 90s. Dawood Ibrahim stepped into the crime world with drug trafficking, target killings, and extortion rackets.
He then formed the D Company and expanded his network across several countries by aligning with Pakistani terrorists. Similarly, Lawrence Bishnoi started with minor crimes and gradually built his gang. Today, his network spans from North India to the international level, operating through Satvinder Singh alias Goldy Brar, listed among the most wanted by Canadian police and Indian agencies.
The NIA disclosed in its chargesheet that the Lawrence Bishnoi gang has over 700 shooters with the slogan 'Jai Balkari'. Approximately 300 shooters are just from Punjab. Photos and videos of Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar are uploaded on social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, X, and YouTube, luring youth toward crime. The gang used social media for publicity by sharing Bishnoi's photos in and out of court.
According to the NIA chargesheet, the Bishnoi gang earned crores from extortion till 2020-21, and the money was transferred abroad through hawala. Initially limited to Punjab, the gang expanded by aligning with Haryana, Delhi, and Rajasthan's gangs with the cunning intellect of Bishnoi and his close ally Goldy Brar. Now, the Lawrence Bishnoi gang has a presence in Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Maharashtra, Delhi, Rajasthan, and Jharkhand.
Youths are recruited into the gang using social media and various tactics. As per the NIA's chargesheet, they are lured with promises of settling in Canada or their preferred countries. Khalistani terrorist Harwinder Singh Rinda, based in Pakistan, uses Bishnoi gang's shooters for carrying out target killings and criminal activities in Punjab. The NIA recently filed a chargesheet in the gangster terror case under UAPA, involving Lawrence Bishnoi, Goldy Brar, and a total of 16 gangsters.
