Bihar's Greatest Political Enigma: The Mysterious Philanthropist Who Left JDU 10 Crore

Following a major Supreme Court decision on electoral bond transparency, political circles are now buzzing with speculation. The campaign horn has sounded, and BJP's rivals are keenly interrogating its stand on electoral bond issues. Amidst this, a fascinating tale has emerged regarding the electoral bonds received by Nitish Kumar's party, JDU in Bihar.

In the lengthy Supreme Court hearings on electoral bonds, all political parties were requested to disclose information about their bonds. The Supreme Court mandated SBI to provide detailed data on electoral bond recipients before delivering its decisive verdict. There was even an instance when the court sought a response from all political parties over the matter.

In 2019, JDU received a total of 13 crore rupees through electoral bonds. The party did report this to the court. Interestingly, JDU's response didn't reveal any information about the donor of 10 crore rupees in electoral bonds.

10 crores given by an unknown person

According to JDU's response in 2019, an anonymous individual handed the party electoral bonds worth 10 crore rupees on April 10, 2019. Naveen Arya, JDU's then state secretary, reported that on April 3, an unknown individual delivered a sealed envelope to the party's state office.

The envelope was opened, uncovering ten electoral bonds worth one crore rupees each. Subsequently, JDU opened an account in SBI's Patna main branch to cash these electoral bonds—a tale bound with intrigue. No party leaders are ready to comment on the matter.

13 crore rupees received by JDU in 2019

Reportedly, JDU received a total of 13 crore rupees in 2019 via electoral bonds. An unknown individual contributed 10 crore rupees, while a cement manufacturing company provided two bonds worth one crore each. Additionally, a mobile company also granted JDU an electoral bond worth one crore rupees.
