Prashant Kishor, founder of Jan Suraj, has emerged as a central figure in Bihar ahead of the assembly elections. He consistently targets BJP, Congress, RJD, and JDU for not developing Bihar. Leading rallies and public meetings, he advocates for change in the state. In an exclusive conversation with us before the election dates were announced, Kishor shared his insights.
Prashant Kishor announced that Jan Suraj will contest all 243 seats in Bihar. He claims that 90% of the candidates will be newcomers to the political arena, including doctors, lawyers, social workers, and businesspeople.
Targeting BJP and RJD
Kishor leveled serious allegations against both BJP and RJD. “BJP talks about conduct, character, and face in Bihar, yet its leaders are embroiled in serious crimes. RJD is known for abductions and extortion, creating a culture of crime. The public wants an alternative,” he stated. Kishor also questioned the educational qualifications of Samrat Chaudhary, adding that BJP’s leadership is now under scrutiny.
Casteism and a New Political Approach
In his direct assault on casteism, Prashant Kishor emphasized that Jan Suraj will base its criteria solely on merit, stating, 'We can find 243 qualified individuals for 243 seats. However, representation will be ensured for capable people from all communities.'
He criticized Lalu Yadav, accusing him of practicing familial politics rather than focusing on caste politics.

Modi and Hardline Politics
Prashant argued that BJP and the RSS are gradually steering the country to the right, posing risks not only to Muslims but also to Hindus. 'Both gun culture and extremism can only be countered by following Gandhi and Ambedkar's paths,' he said.
Comments on Nitish and Tejashwi
Kishor reminisced about his past relationship with Nitish Kumar, but noted that Kumar's current political stance has weakened, stating, 'Nitish Kumar once played strong politics, but now he acts out of vulnerability, merely trying to maintain his presence.'

Tejashwi Yadav was also criticized for aiming to become a minister, whereas Jan Suraj aims for comprehensive transformation in Bihar.
Congress Position
Kishor portrayed Congress as subordinate to RJD in Bihar. 'Rahul Gandhi may be a great leader, but in Bihar, Congress’s survival depends on RJD. Kanhaiya Kumar is not allowed to campaign because RJD does not want Congress to strengthen.'
The Electoral Battle and Predictions
Confident of victory, Prashant Kishor asserted that Jan Suraj will secure a decisive majority. 'Jan Suraj will win. Even if we win 60–70 seats, we will not form an alliance. Lawmakers can choose their path, but Jan Suraj will return to the public.'
