In a dramatic turn of events in West Bengal, the Enforcement Directorate (ED), probing the teacher recruitment scam, arrested TMC legislator Jiban Krishna Saha on Monday. When the ED team arrived for a raid at his Murshidabad district home in Burwan, the MLA attempted to flee by jumping over a wall. The ED promptly pursued and apprehended him in a nearby field.
According to ED officials, Saha was captured while running through the field, covered in mud. During the raid, he also endeavored to destroy evidence by tossing his mobile phone into a pond near his home. However, the ED team managed to retrieve both phones from the pond, which are now set to undergo forensic examination.

The agency emphasized that continued interrogation of the legislator is underway, and he is being escorted to Kolkata for court presentation.
Previously, Saha and his family members were questioned regarding this matter. The ED had earlier posed questions to his wife. Meanwhile, the CBI arrested the TMC MLA in April 2023 for alleged irregularities in the teacher recruitment fraud. He received bail in May 2023. The ED's investigation focuses on money laundering aspects, while the CBI examines criminal connections.
