In a notable development within Bihar's political landscape, former RJD leader and MP, Lovely Anand, is on the cusp of joining Nitish Kumar's JD(U). At 5 PM today, she will culminate her transition by officially becoming a member of the Janata Dal United. Lovely Anand's leap into JD(U)'s fold has sparked conversations about her probable run in the Lok Sabha elections.

Preparations at the JD(U) headquarters have already commenced in anticipation of Lovely Anand's membership. Speculations had previously hinted at her possible defection to JD(U) when RJD's MLAs, including her son Chetan Anand, had switched allegiances during the confidence vote post the NDA's governmental formation.

Last year, Anand Mohan was released from prison

Lovely Anand, the influential Bihar leader and ex-MP's wife, saw her husband Anand Mohan released from jail last year after serving a 15-year sentence in the DM murder case. Following amendments in the prison act by Nitish's government, Anand Mohan along with 27 other prisoners were released. Post his release, Lovely Anand expressed her gratitude towards Bihar's Chief Minister.

Who is Lovely Anand?

Lovely Anand's political journey began as the first candidate for her husband Anand Mohan's Bihar People's Party. She achieved renown by defeating Kishori Sinha, the wife of former Chief Minister Satyendra Narayan Sinha. Lovely Anand, born on December 12, 1966, in Vaishali, married Anand Mohan in 1991. The couple has two sons and a daughter.
