The Nitish government in Bihar has carried out a substantial reshuffle within the state police on Saturday, transferring 62 IPS officers, including three Additional Directors General of Police (ADG). This move is aimed at enhancing administrative efficiency, as per the notification by the Home Department.
Reports indicate that Patna's SSP Rajeev Mishra, who was recently promoted to DIG, will now take charge as DIG of the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS). In his place, CID's SP Avkash Kumar has been appointed as the new SSP of Patna.
Senior IPS officer Kundan Krishnan, previously ADG at the headquarters, has been assigned additional responsibility of the Special Task Force (STF). Meanwhile, Amrit Raj, who was ADG (Operations) of STF, will undertake new responsibilities as ADG (Securities).
Additionally, Rakesh Rathi from the Purnea Range has been appointed as IG of the Economic Offences Unit (EOU) in Cyber Crime. Rakesh Kumar, IG of Mithila Region, has been sent to the Bihar Human Rights Commission, while IG P. Kannan of the Crime Investigation Unit (CIU) has been appointed as IG of Railways.
The Bihar government has also changed SPs of several districts. Kaimur's SP Lalit Mohan Sharma has been made SP of Vaishali. Araria's SP Amit Ranjan is transferred to Sitamarhi. Likewise, Patna (East) SP Shubhank Mishra is appointed SP of Bhagalpur. These reorganizations aim to enhance law and order and boost administrative efficiency within the police department. Officers have been instructed to assume their new roles promptly.
