For the Bihar Legislative Assembly elections 2025, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) released its first list, featuring 71 candidates. Among them, party's senior leader, Samrat Chowdhary, was chosen to contest from the Tarapur constituency.

The list included 9 women candidates such as Renu Devi, Gayatri Devi, Dewanti Yadav, and Rama Nishad. Moreover, Shreyasi Singh was once again the party’s choice for the Jamui seat. Notably, Shreyasi Singh holds the current seat in Jamui as an MLA, having made her political debut in the 2020 assembly elections with a BJP ticket.

Shreyasi is the daughter of the late Digvijay Singh, a prominent former Union Minister and Bihar’s veteran leader. Her mother Poonam Singh also served as an MP from the Banka constituency.

In the 2020 elections, Shreyasi defeated her nearest competitor, RJD's Vijay Prakash, by 41,049 votes. She amassed a total of 79,603 votes compared to 38,554 votes for Vijay Prakash, the previous RJD winner.

Who is Shreyasi Singh, granted a ticket from Jamui?

34-year-old Shreyasi participated in the Paris Olympics in the Shotgun Trap (Women) event but was eliminated in the qualification round.

However, she won a silver medal in the Shotgun Trap event at the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games and a bronze in the Double Trap team event at the 2014 Incheon Asian Games alongside Shagun Chowdhary and Varsha Varman. Furthermore, she secured a gold medal in the 2018 Commonwealth Games and was honored with the Arjuna Award in 2018.
