Bihar's Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha has received a notice from the Election Commission concerning possession of two voter ID cards and registration in separate constituencies. The commission demands a written response by 5:00 PM on August 14, 2025, for further proceedings in the matter.

Vijay Kumar Sinha's Dual Voter IDs

The notice states that in the draft electoral roll published during the Special Summary Revision, 2025, Vijay Kumar Sinha's name is listed at polling station number 405, serial number 757, EPIC number AFS0853341 in the 182-Bankipur assembly constituency.

Additionally, his name is also registered in the 168-Lakhisarai assembly constituency, with EPIC number IAF3939337. According to the commission, this registration existed even before the special revision.

Election Commission's Notice

The commission clarified in the notice that an individual's name can only be registered in one constituency's electoral roll at a time. Having names in two different locations violates the Representation of the People Act and electoral code of conduct.

Tejashwi's Taunt

The Election Commission has sought clarification from Vijay Kumar Sinha and instructed him to present his case within the stipulated timeline. Opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav also targeted Vijay Sinha over the dual voter IDs, posting, 'Prime Minister Modi's close aide, Bihar's Deputy CM Vijay Sinha, is a voter from two separate constituencies in different districts.'

He mentioned Lakhisarai constituency and Patna district's Bankipur assembly segment. All eyes are now on Vijay Kumar Sinha's clarification and the Election Commission's next actions in this situation.
