Bihar Board 10th Topper Sachin Kumar Ram's Success Story:

Sachin Kumar Ram, who secured the second position in Bihar Board's 10th-grade exams, tells a tale of struggle and achievement that is nothing short of an inspiration. His mother works making beedis, while his father is a waiter in a restaurant. Sachin himself has funded his education by tutoring children of his age. Despite financial hardships, growing up with limited means, Sachin turned these challenges into motivation, bringing pride to his family through his achievements. He shares that these hardships gave him motivation, leading to his success in the matriculation exam where he secured the second position in Bihar.

Missed First Position by One Mark

Sachin Kumar from Simaria village, Chakay Block, Jamui District, attending the Upgraded Secondary School, scored 97.60% with 488 out of 500 marks in the Bihar Board 10th examination. He was called to Patna for topper verification on March 25. Sachin explains that in haste, he misread a science question, missing the first position by one mark. In the exam, he scored 99 in Hindi, 96 in English, 100 in Mathematics, 98 in Science, and 95 in Social Science. Notably, three toppers of the Bihar Board 10th grade scored 489 marks.

Parents Earn through Labor

Sachin’s father, Bhudev Ram, works as a waiter in a restaurant in Ranchi, Jharkhand, while his mother, Gudiya Devi, earns a living by making beedis. Gudiya Devi shared her delight, stating that it feels great that her son topped, attributing his success to his dedication and hard work that enabled him to excel in the matric exams.

Earning Educational Expenses by Tutoring

Sachin's efforts and determination are truly commendable. At the young age typical for a class 10 student, he dedicates 5 to 6 hours daily to tutoring others to pay for his education. Sachin begins his day at 3 AM, tutors 8th and 10th graders from 4 AM to 7 AM, attends school, and then resumes tutoring after lunch. This routine earns him ₹5,000 to ₹6,000 monthly, which covers his education expenses.

Challenges as a Source of Motivation

When asked about the struggles due to financial constraints and parental labor, Sachin said, 'Yes, there are challenges, but these very struggles elevate my family’s name. This adversity fuels my motivation, hence my second place in the Bihar matric results.'

The Aspiration to Become a Doctor

Sachin aspires to become a doctor. When questioned why not choose IAS or IPS like many others, he noted that while pursuing IAS or IPS is lengthy, becoming a doctor allows for quicker achievement and economic improvement. 'I want to become a doctor to elevate my family’s financial status sooner,' explained Sachin.

School Principal’s Praise

Sachin, studying at a government school, mentioned how teachers regularly inquired about his preparation. When confused, he would clarify topics with them. His school's principal, Janardhan Mishra, said they anticipated excellent marks from Sachin because of his consistent performance since his 9th grade, expecting him to secure either the first or second rank.
