During a press conference on Thursday, Assam's Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that the forthcoming assembly elections would primarily focus on identity and development. He stated that his government is fully prepared to identify and expel illegal immigrants from the state.

According to the Chief Minister, the development of the state is not possible until the interests of the indigenous population are protected. Citing recent Supreme Court directives, he emphasized that there's no longer an option to adopt a lenient attitude towards foreigners.

As per the court's order, once identified as a foreigner, the Deputy Commissioner can order the person to leave the country. Sarma expressed confidence that development projects will continue, with a firm resolution to bring the BJP back to power for a third consecutive term in the new year.

Chief Minister Sarma asserted that protecting the interests of Assam's indigenous population is the government's priority. Progress is meaningless without security. The identification and expulsion process for illegal immigrants will be strictly enforced to safeguard the state's demography and culture.

Himanta Biswa Sarma stressed that the developmental works initiated by his government will proceed uninterrupted, ensuring every section of society benefits from them. On the occasion of the new year, he shared his political goal to put every effort into forming the BJP government in Assam for a third consecutive time to accelerate development.
