The Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, announced that four infiltrators from Bangladesh were apprehended and subsequently returned to the neighboring country. The individuals caught were identified as Abdul Kabir, Bodhiur Rahman, Mohammad Tayyib, and Abdul Kalam.
According to an agency quoting the Chief Minister's
, four illegal infiltrators were caught and deported after midnight on Monday. In their ongoing efforts to tackle infiltration, Assam Police arrested the Bangladeshi nationals and sent them back across the border. However, specifics regarding their capture location or the bordering district from which they were deported were not disclosed.
The CM previously stated that, over the past seven months, 305 infiltrators from Bangladesh have been apprehended and sent back to their home country. The state government is committed to making Assam "infiltration-free." Following unrest in the neighboring country last year, the BSF has heightened vigilance on the 1,885-kilometer India-Bangladesh border in the Northeast.
A senior official reported that Assam Police maintained a high alert on the border to ensure no illegal entry into the state. Besides Assam, several Bangladeshi infiltrators have been caught in different states and subsequently repatriated.
