Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing the Lok Sabha, declared that Article 370 was an obstacle to the unity of the nation, prompting its abolishment. He highlighted that India's democracy is deeply rooted in our culture and tradition, serving as an inspiration globally. The Prime Minister pointed out that in 75 years, India has achieved extraordinary milestones. Democracy has empowered us to surpass challenges and progress.
PM Modi noted that India is swiftly moving towards becoming the world's third-largest economic power. For this aspiration to manifest, national unity is paramount. However, with regret, he mentioned that post-independence, due to skewed mindsets or self-interest, the core essence of unity was attacked. While we celebrate diversity, those brought up under the mentality of colonial rule sought contradictions within it.
Attempting to sow the seeds of division within our diversity, Article 370 became a barrier to unity, hence we abolished it. In the Lok Sabha, the Prime Minister stressed the significant role of GST in economic unity, recalling instances where parts of the country had electricity while others faced disruptions. The 'One Nation One Grid' initiative was effectively implemented. He noted that the new education policy strongly emphasizes native languages and respects multiple classical languages.
Prime Minister Modi, referencing the Women’s Empowerment Act, described it as a testament to the government's commitment to empowering women. He stated that this act marks a significant milestone in providing women with greater opportunities for political participation.
