The bridge over the Bakra river in Araria collapsed on Tuesday, just days before its scheduled inauguration. The same officer responsible for its inspection now blames the river's natural tendencies for the disaster.
The Rural Works Department had constructed a bridge over the Bakra river at a cost of 12 crores. Engineer Ashutosh Kumar Ranjan, the executive engineer, was responsible for its inspection. He now suggests the river's curved nature could be the reason behind the bridge's collapse.
Substandard construction materials not addressed
Furthermore, the video that emerged of the collapse clearly shows the use of inferior materials in the bridge's construction, leading to its complete downfall on Tuesday. However, the engineer, instead of addressing this, has chosen to blame the river for the accident.
Bridge falls before inauguration
It is reported that the bridge over the Bakra river in Sikti, Araria, collapsed on Tuesday, completely devastated. Designed for inauguration, the 12-crore structure fell before the ceremony, with three of its pillars sinking into the river, causing the structure to topple.
