Incarcerated due to terrorist funding allegations, Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) leader Yasin Malik's wife, Mushaal Hussein Malik, has reached out to Rahul Gandhi, seeking his assistance. On Wednesday, she urged the opposition leader to initiate a debate in Parliament for her husband's cause, asserting that Malik could be instrumental in restoring peace in Jammu and Kashmir.
Mushaal Hussein, a former advisor to Pakistan's prime minister on human rights and women's empowerment, has ignited a new discussion by mentioning a "three-decade-old treason case" against Malik. It should be noted that the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has demanded the death penalty for Yasin Malik.
A Pakistani journalist took to social media, stating, "Mushaal Malik has pleaded with Rahul Gandhi to save her husband, Yasin Malik, who is on an indefinite hunger strike amidst rapidly declining health in Tihar Jail. She requested his transfer to ICU and warned of judicial negligence, as the NIA is calling for the death penalty in a 30-year-old sedition case."

Life Imprisonment in 2022
Yasin Malik is personally arguing before the Delhi High Court against NIA's appeal, which seeks the death penalty for him in the terrorist funding case. In 2017, the NIA filed charges against Malik and others, culminating in a trial court sentencing him to life imprisonment in 2022 after his conviction.
'Yasin Malik on an Indefinite Hunger Strike'
Mushaal Hussein Malik disclosed, "Since November 2, Malik has embarked on an indefinite hunger strike to protest inhumane treatment in jail. This hunger strike jeopardizes his well-being and the life of someone committed to the path of non-violence after renouncing armed conflict.”

Mushaal further conveyed, "Rahul Ji, I recount these stories not to glorify Malik but to underscore his steadfastness to his vows.”
Additionally, Mushaal alleged that since 2019, Malik has been subjected to "all unimaginable forms of persecution" by the BJP government. He faces prosecution for waging war against India in a 35-year-old case and now faces fabricated charges with a demand for capital punishment by the NIA. I urge you (Rahul) to employ your high moral and political authority in Parliament to initiate a debate on Yasin Malik's case, which might lead to the resurgence of organic and visible peace in Jammu and Kashmir."
