I advised against politics, but...: Anna Hazare on Kejriwal's decision

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced his resignation from the CM post after getting out of jail. Social worker Anna Hazare commented on Kejriwal's decision, saying, 'I have advised staying out of politics many times. I urged for social service instead of politics, but Kejriwal had a different heart. What was to happen has happened today.'

Anna Hazare reiterated that he has advised against entering politics numerous times before. Instead, he encouraged serving society to become a great person. 'We shared many years together, and I kept saying politics is not the way. Social service brings true joy in life. Stay immersed in that joy, but his heart desired otherwise, and today we see the consequences,' Hazare stated.

Kejriwal Announces Resignation

After being released on bail from jail, CM Kejriwal reached his party office in Delhi on Sunday. During his address, he announced his resignation, stating, 'I will resign in two days.' After meeting with party leaders and workers, CM Kejriwal addressed the supporters.

In his major announcement, he said, 'I will be resigning from the CM post in two days.' He added, 'From today onwards, I will not occupy the CM's chair until the public delivers their verdict on Kejriwal's integrity.' He also mentioned that Manish Sisodia would not hold any position until the public's decision.

Calls for Early Elections in Delhi

He requested the Election Commission to conduct the elections in November along with Maharashtra instead of February. Kejriwal clarified that his resignation would not dissolve the Delhi Assembly. During an AAP legislative party meeting, a new Chief Minister will be elected. He mentioned that Manish Sisodia and he would take no responsibility until then, instead choosing to engage directly with the public.

Decided to Resign While in Jail

Sources say that Arvind Kejriwal had made up his mind to resign over corruption allegations while in jail. He decided to wait until his release to submit his resignation. Kejriwal informed top leaders about his plan to resign, leading AAP leaders to devise a final strategy.
