The Allahabad High Court has adopted a stern stance on the rising incidents of individuals becoming assistant teachers using forged certificates in Uttar Pradesh. A bench, led by Justice Manju Rani Chauhan, has directed the state government to conduct a comprehensive investigation of all teacher documents across the state. The court has instructed the Principal Secretary of the Basic Education Department to complete this process within six months.

This directive came following a petition by Garima Singh of Deoria, whose appointment was annulled after her residential and educational certificates were found to be fake. The court has strongly ordered the recovery of salaries from unlawful teachers and disciplinary action against collaborating officials.

The court remarked sharply during the hearing. Justice Manju Rani Chauhan described the pattern of securing jobs with fake documents as 'disturbing.' According to the court, despite repeated instructions, responsible officers have failed to act timely against such illegal appointments. The court clarified that this inaction not only promotes fraud but also undermines the roots of the education system, resulting in serious harm to students' futures.

Dismissal After 15 Years of Service

This issue gained attention when Garima Singh challenged her dismissal by the BSA of Deoria. The petitioner argued that she had served without any complaints since July 2010, approximately 15 years. However, investigations revealed that her documents and residence proof were fake. Instead of showing leniency on her plea, the court viewed it as part of a larger corruption issue. Now, the government must not only cancel illegal appointments but also recover public funds from such individuals.
