Politics surged during Eid. Samajwadi Party (SP) leader and former UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav accused police of obstructing Eidgah visits. He questioned the unprecedented barricading, claiming, 'I've visited Eidgah for years, never saw this.'

Upon reaching Eidgah, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav spoke to reporters, stating, 'I was intentionally stopped by police today. I wanted to know the reason for my obstruction.' He said, 'Only after significant effort were the barriers removed, allowing a single car to pass.'

He recounted questioning the lack of explanation from officials on this conduct. 'Should I perceive this as authoritarianism, or an emergency-like situation?' Akhilesh questioned. 'Is this an attempt to create pressure, to discourage participation in other religions’ events?' he mused.

Recollecting his visits, Akhilesh urged, 'At least tell me why. I've been coming here for years. I remember when leader, Netaji (Mulayam Singh Yadav), first brought me. I've visited ever since, but never encountered such barricading.'
