Ajay Rai, the state president of the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee, launched a verbal attack on Smriti Irani, making derogatory comments and even calling her mentally unstable. When asked if Irani had alleged that Rahul Gandhi's nomination in Wayanad was preceded by a secret pact with the Muslim League to not display their flags, since Gandhi needed to frequent temples in Uttar Pradesh, Rai stooped to offensive criticism.
Rai suggested that Irani was mentally disturbed, urging Prime Minister Modi to ensure she receives immediate mental health care so that she could feel more at ease, as her discomfort and mental bankruptcy were apparent.
In response to Smriti Irani's comments about leaving a spot open for Rahul Gandhi's brother-in-law on the Amethi seat, Ajay Rai reiterated that Irani's mental level has dropped, describing her as unhinged. Rai suggested that before making further comments, Irani should fulfill the promises she made to the people of Amethi.
Rai was again questioned whether Rahul Gandhi's alleged incompetence qualifies Smriti Irani as mentally unbalanced, to which he asserted the need for her medical treatment, suggesting that once recovered, she should be sent to Amethi. On being asked about the delay in fielding a Congress candidate from Raebareli and Amethi, Rai responded that their candidacy would reflect the voice of the people.
On the topic of Hema Malini's video of harvesting crops, Rai gave a sharp response, criticizing the performative acts like crop harvesting, washing feet, and cleaning dishes that politicians resort to during elections. He questioned why Malini did not engage in crop harvesting in Mathura previously when the crops were ready last time too. He advised the people of Mathura to stay cautious of such acts.
As for open support for Afzal Ansari's campaign in Ghazipur, Rai gave evasive answers, affirming that he will follow the party's decision. Being an electoral candidate from Varanasi himself, Rai clearly stated his focus on contesting against PM Modi, thus prioritizing his presence in Varanasi over campaigning in Ghazipur.
Rai commented on the joint appearances of leaders of the India Coalition on the same stage, sharing that plans are in the works for a significant event where all prominent leaders will unite and demonstrate their solidarity.
Discussing the issue of agents of the BJP leaving Congress, Rai showed his sacred thread and recounted his adherence to Sanatan traditions, highlighting how he was detained under NSA and was jailed for 7 months. Those leaving Congress for the BJP were exposed as agents of the BJP within Congress, leaking internal information to Amit Shah, according to Rai.
