In a statement, Air India declared, 'As the investigation is ongoing, we cannot comment on specific details. All inquiries regarding this matter will be referred to the AAIB (Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau).

On July 12, 2025, acknowledging the initial report issued by the AAIB, Air India shared a post on X stating that they had received the report and are collaborating with investigative agencies.
Air India mentioned, 'Today, on July 12, 2025, we received the preliminary report from AAIB.' The company reiterated its commitment to working with all stakeholders, including regulatory agencies, and assisting fully in the investigation.

According to the initial report by AAIB, the fuel control switches of Air India's AI171, which crashed near Ahmedabad on June 12, turned off during the flight, halting fuel supply to both engines. This resulted in a rapid decline in the engines' rotation speed. Although the re-ignition process began shortly after, it was already too late. The plane crashed, leading to the tragic loss of 260 lives.
