13-Year-Old Subhan Goes Missing on March 23
Almost four hundred kilometers away from Delhi, in Auraiya district's Erwa Katra neighborhood, jeweler Shakeel lived with his family. Two days before Holi, on Saturday, March 23rd, Shakeel's 13-year-old son Subhan went out to play cricket with his friends but did not return home by evening. After a futile search, the distraught father filed a missing persons report at the local police station that very night.
The Vanishing Neighbor, Riyaz aka Munna
As Auraiya Police swiftly commenced their investigation, they learned that a neighbor, Riyaz aka Munna, had been trying to befriend Subhan and had even invited him to play the match that fateful day. When Munna was found to be missing as well, suspicions were aroused. Further inquiries revealed that three of Munna's friends were also unaccounted for.

How Police Tracked Down the Crafty Criminals
During this time, Auraiya Police discovered that Munna was repeatedly in contact with four individuals known to be criminals from Delhi. This information was shared with Delhi police, who then began to track the locations of these four criminals. It was at this point police were able to pinpoint their presence in West Delhi's Paschim Vihar area. Auraiya Police, already en route to Delhi, joined forces with the Delhi Police. Mobile tracking led them straight to four individuals— identified as Avadhesh and his three accomplices—standing by a car in Paschim Vihar. The police swiftly arrested them on the spot.
Avadhesh Reveals the Shocking Truth
After the kidnapping, Munna and his accomplices had reached Delhi and handed over Subhan to Avadhesh and his gang. The plan was to release Subhan in Delhi once ransom money was obtained from his parents, which was to be collected in a jungle in Auraiya. In the meantime, Munna had managed to escape back to Auraiya. Delhi Police had caught Avadhesh and his gang, but Munna and Subhan were still untracked. Only after Avadhesh confessed did they learn that Subhan was inside the trunk of a car.
A Tragic End for Subhan inside a Trolley Bag
Opening the car trunk revealed a blue trolley bag; inside lay Subhan, bound hand and foot and completely unconscious. He was rushed to Delhi's Sanjay Gandhi Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead—a victim of suffocation due to being shut in the bag and trunk.

Police Lay a Trap
Returning to Auraiya with Avadhesh and his accomplices, police learned that Munna and his three friends were still somewhere in Auraiya. Without knowing their exact location, Avadhesh confirmed that the ransom money was to be collected in the Erwa Katra jungle. Police instructed Avadhesh to lure Munna into the same jungle.
An Encounter in the Erwa Katra Jungle
By Monday, several police teams were stationed in the Erwa Katra jungle with Avadhesh and his accomplices. What followed was an encounter described by police: as the hidden Munna and his companions spotted Avadhesh and the rest with the police, they realized they had been discovered. This led Munna and his accomplices to open fire on the police team. Seeing this, Avadhesh and his accomplices, already in custody, attempted to flee.
Eight Kidnappers Shot in the Ensuing Encounter
Police returned fire; Munna, Avadhesh, and the other six culprits involved in Subhan's kidnapping all sustained bullet wounds to their legs. While the encounter resulted in some damage to police vehicles and minor injuries to three officers, all suspects were apprehended. However, Subhan would never return home.
