A fierce conflict currently rages between two prominent figures in Sultanpur, UP, capturing the attention of the political landscape from the district all the way to the state. On one side stands the sitting BJP MLA, and on the opposing side, we have a former Samajwadi Party MLA along with his ex-block chief brother. At the heart of this political storm is MLA Vinod Singh opposing the formidable duo — the 'Mighty Brothers,' known better as Sonu and Monu.
Recently, a routine check at the Ayodhya court premises led to the discovery of firearms and ammunition in a suspicious bag. Coincidentally, this was the same day Monu was scheduled to testify in court. However, he refrained from appearing, likely as a result of a past life-threatening attack during a court appearance in 2014.
The ongoing political rivalry in Sultanpur has now escalated to Ayodhya's court. Former block chief Yashbhadra Singh, fearing for his life due to a longstanding legal case, has chosen to abstain from court proceedings.
Claiming Threats to His Life at Court
Yashbhadra Singh 'Monu' cited serious threats to his safety in the Ayodhya court. This concern stems from a case linked to a 2014 attack, now reopened. Accusing parties include MLA Vinod Singh and former village leader Kamla Devi. In 2020-21, police filed a charge sheet, and based on Yashbhadra Singh's request, the court reissued a warrant.

Monu Singh explained his absence in court on Saturday as a preventive action for his safety. Suspicious activities tainted his scheduled court appearance day, with a person caught possessing two illegal handguns and ammunition.
Concerns of Past Attacks and Lasting Feuds
According to Monu Singh, the 2014 court incident involved an attack where a person named Janendra Sharma was apprehended. Police reports suggest constant communication between Vinod Singh and those implicated, ultimately leading to his accusation. Monu suspects similar hidden dangers deterred him from the recent court appearance.
A New Chapter in Political Rivalry
Historical animosity between Sonu-Monu and Vinod Singh spans over 15 years. Recently, Vinod Singh requested the removal of Sonu-Monu's late father's statue via a letter to the district magistrate. This prompted a BJP MLC's objection, leading to an official complaint by Vinod Singh to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath against Devendra Pratap's stance.
