Israel's plan to seize Gaza has sent shockwaves through the international political sphere. An emergency meeting was called at the United Nations where the ambassadors of Palestine and Israel clashed head-on. Almost every nation, except Israel and the United States, has condemned this move. In a historic decision, Australia announced its official recognition of Palestine as a sovereign state.

During the meeting on Sunday, discussions centered on ending the war in Gaza and addressing the existing humanitarian crisis. Palestinian Permanent Observer Riyad Mansour said, "We appreciate your words and sympathy, but they are not enough. Action is needed to stop this; otherwise, the analysis and descriptions are pointless." Meanwhile, Israeli Ambassador Jonathan Miller opposed describing Israel as aggressive in Gaza.

He stated that their goal is to liberate Gaza from the crooked terrorist regime. The United States also supported Israel on this occasion. Several countries, including China, the European Union, the UK, Germany, and France, have strongly criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's plan. These nations warned that Gaza is already experiencing famine-like conditions, and such plans would exacerbate the situation.

Netanyahu Clarifies: Seizure is Not the Goal

In response, Netanyahu stated, "Our goal is not to seize Gaza, but to free it from Hamas. Only then will this war end." No place in Gaza is safe from Israeli attacks. On Sunday, Israeli military attacks resulted in the deaths of seven people, including four journalists from Qatar's Al-Jazeera news channel. The deceased include Anas Al-Sharif, Mohammed Kurayke, Ibrahim Zaher, and Mohammed Naufal.

Journalist Organizations Condemn the Attack

All were present in a tent established for journalists at the main hospital gate. Palestinian journalist organizations have strongly condemned this attack. Two weeks ago, Al-Jazeera also accused the Israeli Defense Forces of targeting its journalists. Israel claims that Anas Al-Sharif was a key figure in a Hamas group involved in rocket attacks on Israeli citizens and IDF soldiers.

The Dire State of Death and Hunger in Gaza

The death toll in Gaza has now exceeded 61,430. Continuous bombing, destruction, and blockade have left people with nothing to eat. Hunger, disease, and violence have pushed the humanitarian crisis to its peak. Despite worldwide criticism, Israel remains steadfast. Australia’s recognition of Palestine will further intensify the issue ahead of the September summit.
