This proclamation arrives amid fierce protests and escalating tension between the USA and Iran. Trump's decision may strain global relations, as Iran's business allies include not only neighboring countries but also India, Turkey, China, and the UAE.

No detailed methodology on implementing the tariff has been shared yet, including affected countries' specifics or potential exemptions.

Tensions Between the US and Iran

The ongoing protests have intensified the conflict between the United States and Iran. For more than two weeks, anti-government demonstrations have gripped Iran, reportedly resulting in the death of approximately 600 individuals and the detention of over 10,670.

Trump has staunchly backed the protesters and warned of American intervention should violence erupt against them.

Moreover, the White House suggests that President Trump is considering all options to tackle Iran, with the prospect of an airstrike not ruled out. Conversely, Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei holds the United States and Israel responsible for the unrest, frequently issuing stern warnings to America. Recently, Khamenei advised Trump to focus on domestic affairs.
