In Assam's Cachar district, police have arrested three Bangladeshi nationals, which include two women and one man. A patrol team in the Katigorah area intercepted them while they were traveling in a car.
According to a news agency report, a senior police official confirmed that the individuals hail from Bangladesh's Habiganj district, identified as Jhuma Das, Karuna Rani Das, and Rimon Baishnav.
Police stated that the trio illegally crossed into India via Katigorah border. Additionally, two locals responsible for facilitating their illegal entry were also detained. The police official remarked, 'Two locals from Katigorah have been taken into custody for allegedly aiding in the illegal entry.'
Post interrogation, the detained Bangladeshi nationals have been transferred to Silchar, where further investigations are underway. Authorities are probing the purpose behind their entry into India and any possible links to an organized network. Illegal entry of Bangladeshi nationals poses a significant challenge for Assam and India's northeastern states.
The involvement of local individuals in this case has heightened concerns for security agencies. Efforts are ongoing to uncover the motives of those involved in facilitating the entry of foreign nationals into India. The police have committed to rigorous questioning of all detainees and ensuring legal procedures follow after a thorough investigation.
