These 12 BJP candidates faced defeat in Bihar, 5 lost to Muslim contenders

The NDA's historic triumph in the Bihar Assembly catapulted the number of ruling party legislators to 202. This time, the BJP has secured the most seats, with 89 legislators in the assembly. The BJP contested 101 seats and captured 89 of them. Despite the overwhelming NDA wave, 12 party candidates suffered defeat. Among them, five were defeated by Muslim candidates from opposing parties.

Among these, some candidates lost by narrow margins of 30 and 178 votes.

1-Baisi Seat

On the Baisi seat, BJP’s Vinod Kumar faced a formidable defeat against AIMIM’s Ghulam Sarwar, who triumphed over Kumar by a substantial margin of 27,251 votes. This constituency previously saw Congress in control during 2020.

2-Bisfi Seat

Bisfi is one of the constituencies where BJP faced a setback. BJP's Haribhushan Thakur was defeated by RJD's Asif Ahmed by a margin of 8,107 votes. In 2020, Thakur had won this seat with an RJD ticket.

3-Kishanganj Seat

BJP's Sweety Singh encountered defeat on the Kishanganj seat, losing to Congress’s Kamrul Hoda by 12,794 votes, despite AIMIM’s Shams Aghaz securing a considerable number of 51,370 votes. This seat was held by Congress’s Ijharul Hassan in 2020.

4-Kochaadhaman Seat

BJP's Bina Devi was placed third in the Kochaadhaman constituency, accumulating 44,858 votes. AIMIM’s Mohammad Sarwar Alam, who received 81,860 votes, defeated RJD’s Mujahid Alam by 23,021 votes. AIMIM maintained control despite changing candidates from the previous victory in 2020.

5-Dhaka Seat

Dhaka's results were disheartening for BJP. They narrowly lost by 178 votes to RJD's Faizal Rahman, who secured 112,727 votes. BJP’s Pawan Kumar Jaiswal, who had won here in 2020, garnered 112,549 votes.

In the 2025 elections, out of the 12 seats BJP lost, five were defeated by Muslim candidates from opposition parties.

6- Chanpatia Seat

On Chanpatia seat, BJP narrowly lost with Umakant Singh defeated by Congress’s Abhishek Ranjan by a margin of 602 votes.

7- Forbesganj Seat

Forbesganj was another close call as Congress’s Manoj Biswas defeated BJP’s Vidya Sagar Kesari by only 221 votes.

8- Saharsa Seat

Formed by the new Indian Inclusive Party, Indrajit Prasad Gupta triumphed, defeating BJP’s Alok Ranjan by 2,038 votes. Alok Ranjan had secured victory in 2020.

9- Warsaliganj Seat

In Warsaliganj, BJP's Aruna Devi faced defeat from RJD’s Anita by 7,543 votes. Aruna Devi had succeeded on this seat for BJP in 2020.

10-Ramgarh Seat

Ramgarh posed a tough challenge for BJP’s Ashok Kumar Singh, receiving 72,659 votes and narrowly losing to Bahujan Samaj Party’s Satish Kumar Singh Yadav by 30 votes.

11-Goh Seat

Goh seat witnessed BJP’s Dr. Raviranjan Kumar being outpaced by RJD’s Amrendra Kumar with a margin of 4,041 votes.

12-Raghopur Seat

The Raghopur seat presented a thrilling political face-off with RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav battling against a seemingly weaker BJP contender, Satish Kumar. Despite an initial edge, Kumar was ultimately defeated by Tejashwi by a margin of 14,532 votes, accumulating a total of 118,597 votes.
