With the unfortunate demise of Maharashtra's former Deputy CM, Ajit Pawar, Sunetra Pawar is set to take the reins as the National President of the NCP. After strategic meetings to chart the party's future, the leadership confirmed her appointment. Over the past two days, leading figures and approximately 30 state legislators have submitted letters of support for Sunetra Pawar's leadership.
The party's executive committee will convene a formal meeting post the district council elections on the 9th. During this gathering, a proposal for her new role will be officially put forth, and once approved, she will formally assume her responsibilities.
Continued Support from Party Workers and Legislators
The departure of Ajit Pawar had already set the discourse about his successor fervently among party workers. With a substantial backing, many demanded that Sunetra Pawar lead. About 30 legislators have provided written support for this cause. Supporters believe she can carry forward Ajit Pawar’s political legacy and ideology commendably.
Organizational Restructuring of the Party
Once Sunetra Pawar assumes presidency, NCP’s new organizational structure will be in place. Praful Patel will continue as the National Executive President, and Sunil Tatkare will remain the State President. Alongside, Y P Trivedi will serve as the National Treasurer, S R Kohli as the National General Secretary and Head of Administration, and Brijmohan Srivastava will maintain his duties as National Secretary and National Spokesman. In addition, Subodh Mohite remains the National General Secretary, and Syed Jalaluddin presides over Minority Affairs.
