The discovery of two girls hanging from a tree caused widespread shock in Uttar Pradesh's Farrukhabad. As soon as the incident was reported, the police arrived at the scene, took control of the bodies, and sent them for autopsy as they began their investigation. Preliminary findings suggest suicide. The police have ruled out rape and murder. Meanwhile, political statements have begun to surface. Swami Prasad Maurya criticized the state government over the incident, condemning it and calling for strict action against the culprits.
According to sources, Babli, an 18-year-old from Bhagwati Pur village, and 16-year-old Shashi, who lived nearby, were close friends. On Monday, they went to see the Janmashtami festivities in the village but didn't return home until late, which led their families to assume they stayed over with relatives in the village. However, the next morning, their bodies were discovered hanging from a tree in a nearby mango orchard. Police are treating this as a suicide, although the families of the girls suspect foul play.
Bodies of two girls found hanging
Ram Dayal, Babli's father, shared his grief, recounting how his daughter had gone out with her friend Shashi to witness the Janmashtami celebration but failed to return that night. They assumed she had stayed with relatives in the village. It wasn’t until the morning that they learned about the tragic deaths.
Police Investigate Multiple Angles
Speaking on the matter, the Superintendent of Police stated that two girls from Bhagwati Pur in the Kayamganj police jurisdiction were found hanging from a tree. While the primary indication is suicide, as there are no signs of physical injury on the bodies, the police have sent the bodies for postmortem. They have also found a mobile phone at the scene, which is currently under investigation. The families of the deceased have submitted a plea for thorough investigation. Therefore, the police are looking into all possible angles.
