In the case of a girl's death from cake consumption during a birthday celebration in Patiala, Punjab, a report on the samples from the bakery has been released. The findings indicate a higher-than-normal amount of synthetic sweetener in the cake. However, the report from the FSL lab on the cake samples collected from the scene is still pending.
The incident revolves around a girl named Manvi, who celebrated her 10th birthday on March 24. Her family ordered a cake online, which they cut and ate. Later, around 3-4 AM, Manvi began to vomit. Concerned, her family rushed her to a nearby hospital, but sadly, the doctors declared her dead.
The family lodged a complaint with the police. Subsequently, the health department conducted a raid on the bakery supplying the online cake, seizing samples from its stock. The health department received the report on Monday. The full picture will only become clear with the FSL lab's findings. According to the health officer, out of four samples, two were found to be substandard.
Dr. Vijay reports an excessive amount of synthetic sweetener present. Based on our findings, we will inform the court, and necessary action and penalties will be imposed on the bakery. The sample of the cake that resulted in Manvi's tragic death has yet to be reported by the FSL lab.
