The terrorist attack in Pahalgam has escalated tensions between India and Pakistan. In light of this, retired Major and analyst Adil Raza, who has previously stayed in Islamabad, has made a startling claim. He alleges that the mastermind behind the Pahalgam terrorist attack is none other than Pakistan's Army Chief, General Asim Munir.
Adil Raza contends that Asim Munir is well aware of the mutual nuclear deterrence between India and Pakistan, implying that while a major war might not ensue, a targeted response is a likely outcome. This makes the Pahalgam attack seem like a calculated move to rally Pakistani citizens around an anti-India and pro-Kashmir agenda.
Raza further asserts that the attack also serves Munir's ulterior motive of establishing himself as a powerful leader, particularly in a climate where there is significant public dissent against the military and accusations of stealing Imran Khan's electoral mandate.
'This was a false flag operation'
Adil accuses that the attack was a 'false flag operation,' meaning an attack orchestrated to blame an adversary. He claims that Asim Munir, who was ISI chief during the Pulwama attack and now the Chief of Army Staff during the Pahalgam incident, has been implicated in both attacks by sources from Pakistan’s intelligence agencies.
'Asim Munir fears Imran Khan's popularity'
Moreover, Adil references Munir's recent purported speech in Islamabad, in which he allegedly made anti-Hindu remarks. Following this, tourists in Pahalgam were reportedly targeted based on their religious identification. Raza describes this mindset as 'psychopathic,' suggesting that Asim Munir fears Imran Khan’s growing popularity and resorts to such measures to garner public sympathy. Adil also claims that the entire plan to place Nawaz Sharif back in power was orchestrated under the so-called London Plan, disregarding public opinion and democratic values.
