The Winter Session of Parliament is underway, and MPs from the INDIA block are actively protesting the Adani issue. Simultaneously, there are preparations to bring a no-confidence motion against Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar. Opposition MPs have accused the Chairman of acting in a biased manner against them. One of their claims states, "On various occasions, whenever opposition members raised objections about the House's functioning, he made derogatory remarks against them."

Opposition MPs further claim, "Jagdeep Dhankhar obstructs opposition speeches, bringing privilege motions at his discretion. He himself declared that he is a disciple of RSS and stated that despite holding this top position, he continues to be a part of this organization."

The opposition further remarked, "This is inappropriate for him. He operates like a government spokesperson, also criticizing statements made by opposition leaders who are part of the Upper House."

Congress's Unique Protest in Parliament

Earlier, Rahul Gandhi expressed opposition to the Adani issue by presenting Defense Minister Rajnath Singh with a rose and the tricolor in the Parliament premises. As Rajnath Singh stepped out of his car to enter Parliament, Rahul Gandhi and other Congress leaders approached him with these gifts.

This incident occurred during an opposition protest outside Parliament, where the central government was accused of evading discussion on bribery charges against Adani in the US.

Protests from Session's Start

From November 20, when the session began, there have been continuous disruptions in both Houses over various issues. Congress demanded a discussion on the Adani matter, while BJP accused former Congress President Sonia Gandhi and billionaire philanthropist George Soros of having links, claiming connections with a Soros Foundation-funded organization allegedly supporting the idea of separating Kashmir from India.

No Confidence Motion Against Dhankhar in Preparation

On Tuesday, December 10, opposition alliance INDIA block parties issued a notice to bring a motion to remove Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar as Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, accusing him of "partisan" conduct. If the motion proceeds, these parties will need a simple majority to pass it.

However, they lack the necessary numbers in the 243-member House. Nevertheless, opposition members emphasize that this is a strong message for battling parliamentary democracy.
