What Triggered the Blasts in Lebanon?
Last year in September, blasts erupted in pagers around the border regions of Lebanon and Syria. Particularly in Beirut and the southern parts of Lebanon, including the eastern Bekaa Valley, where serial pager explosions began. These areas are known as Hezbollah's stronghold. Following this, explosions also occurred in items like walkie-talkies, solar panels, and handheld radios across Lebanon, including in the solar systems of homes in cities like Beirut.
The explosions in pagers, used for communication by Hezbollah, resulted in over 3,000 being injured and around 40 fatalities, including Hezbollah fighters and medical staff. The attacks also injured Iran's ambassador, Mojtaba Amani.
Netanyahu Authorized Pager Attacks
Netanyahu confirmed that he approved the pager attacks on Hezbollah's strongholds in Lebanon, which led to around 40 terrorists being killed and over 3,000 wounded.
Why Did Hezbollah Fighters Use Pagers?
Following attacks by Hamas on Israel, Hezbollah's top officials instructed their fighters to use pagers for communication instead of mobile or internet, to avoid location tracking by the Israeli army and Mossad. The pager’s unique quality is that it doesn’t allow location tracking.
